Hilton Head Island

Hilton Head Island is about a 4 hr drive from the Upstate.

Immediately as we drove onto the island I was hit with ‘low country vibes’. Everything looked and felt different. The giant swampy trees are beautiful, even the gas stations and some stores have an island theme appearance.

Families bike along the rode on giant bike paths. There are alligators in the parks (we saw one) and they are even on the golf courses. You can checkout the inside of a lighthouse (sadly you have to pay per person) and firework shows can be viewed in the evenings.

The water was more murky compared to North Myrtle Beach. Also there are some rules in place on the island preventing new giant hotels from being put up. This is probably a good thing, however a huge majority of available hotels or condos were very old/ outdated with limited availability- and still very pricey 💲💲💲.

This is a nice place to visit once (in my opinion).

What was your experience with Hilton Head Island?
